Aquatica Announces Opening of All-New Kata’s Kookaburra Cove and More for 2023 Summer Season

Press Release from SeaWorld San Antonio:

San Antonio, TX (May 22, 2023) – Aquatica San Antonio has opened the all-new Kata’s Kookaburra Cove, a 3000 square foot water playland, imagined and created exclusively for the pre-school crowd and their parents. Named after the Australian bird with a call that sounds like laughter, this quirky cove is perfect for guests with children who may be a bit on the small side to enjoy the larger thrills in other areas of the park.

“This children’s splash pad is a testament to our commitment to providing unforgettable experiences for families,” said Jodi Davenport, SeaWorld San Antonio Park President. “We’re thrilled that this re-imagined design is exclusively for the younger crowd and will be a refreshing interactive oasis that will foster joy, imagination, and adventure.”

Tucked away between other adventurous rides and attractions, Kata’s Kookaburra Cove allows little ones to navigate their way around nineteen different play elements, each with a unique water feature. A soft cushioned floor lines the splash pad ensuring a comfy space for toddlers to crawl, jump, play, and enjoy whimsical sea creatures that serve as welcoming play elements for tiny tots to enjoy.  Kids can romp through refreshing waterfalls, dancing fountains, and spray nozzles. This all-new attraction joins Cutback Cove, Slippity Dippity, Walkabout Waters, and Zippity Zappity as the fifth pre-school focused areas inside Aquatica.

A Place for Parents to Relax

Kata’s Kookaburra Cover isn’t only for the kids. There are also unique elements for parents to enjoy inside this playful paradise. Private cabanas, complete with concierge service, and relaxing shaded daybeds provide the ultimate home base from which parents can keep a watchful eye on their children. Multiple shade structures around the playland provide cooling relief from the hot Texas sun, allowing adults the opportunity to relax and have peace of mind while their kids are safe to frolic in the securely monitored area.

Also new this year are double decker cabanas. These ultimate home base stations are two levels giving guests not only a space to relax in the shade but enjoy a bird’s eye view of the surrounding lush and tropical beauty of Aquatica. Like other cabanas around the park, these offer concierge service making them the ultimate place to set up camp.

Mango Market Provides Expanded Dining Opportunities

Also coming later this summer to Aquatica is the all-new Mango Market. This dining experience will feature new food and beverage options including personal flatbread pizzas. Guests can relax and dine under additional shade structures around the marketplace along with expanded seating spots to accommodate even more guests as they take a break from the fun and enjoy a variety of delicious refreshments.

Kata’s Kookaburra Cove and Mango Market will join Aquatica’s already impressive lineup of rides and attractions. Guests who are adventurous can enjoy Ihu’s Breakaway Falls, the tallest drop slide in Texas, the newly opened Riptide Race, where guests can compete against each other in a race to the finish, and Stingray Falls, a thrilling family ride that combines the excitement of a family tube ride with an underwater grotto where guests come face to fin with stingrays and tropical fish. Guests can then dive deeper in their quest to learn more about the wild wonders of our oceans at KeRe Reef where they can actually get in the water, interact, and feed stingrays! Aquatica is known for being a resort style oasis with everything from extreme water rides, plunging tube chutes, and a wave pool; to a serene lazy river, relaxing private cabanas, tranquil pools, and multiple playful kid’s areas.
