ArieForce One Opening Day/Media Preview
What was easily one of the most anticipated new coasters for 2023 is now open at Fun Spot America - Atlanta! ArieForce One, (named after park owner John Arie Jr’s father) a ground up RMC I-Box coaster, manages to exceed the already sky high expectations. We were invited to find out just intense this ride truly is.
Right off the road, ArieForce One stands tall and it is impossible not to see this ride! The 154ft tall lift hill and largest stall in the US are right along side the road and completely transforms the entrance of the park.
Right as we entire, it is impossible to miss the many signs letting us know that ArieForce One is now open and ready for guests.
The station for the ride is directly next to the entrance into the park. Prior to the official opening ceremony, we had an opportunity to ride! The ride dominates the back half of the park, defining the entire back wall of the park, and even soaring over the long, indoor arcade, party rooms, and diner that sets another wall of the park. The largest immediate surprise was just how well themed the ride is.
The park did a great job creating an effective space theme with a lot of very creative uses of everyday objects to create a station themed to a secret government space facility. These details give the ride that extra sense of immersion that is not seen at the Florida Fun Spot parks. We can only hope to see more of this as the parks grow!
The park pulled out all the stops to celebrate their new headlining coaster. Representatives from IAAPA, RMC, the city of Fayetteville, and even NASA astronaut Col. Doug Hurley all were present to open up the ride with a countdown leading to a short pyro display.
So how’s the ride?
In a word, relentless. This is easily the most intense RMC coaster ever built. It may not be the tallest, fastest, or have the most inversions, but what it does have is incredibly forceful moments of airtime, high positive G turns, high-speed heartline rolls, a massive stall, and a first of its kind Raven Truss Dive.
The ride starts with what is now an RMC signature element with a short pre-lift segment with a few bunny hills giving little pops of airtime before climbing up the 154ft truss style lift hill. Right out of the gate the ride starts with its signature unique element, the Raven Truss Dive. While it looks like a standard dive loop, it stands out by waiting till after the crest of the hill before inverting riders to complete the turnaround maneuver. this gives an absolutely unique feeling of weightlessness throughout the entire element, and the truss sections creating a headchopper effect only add to the thrill of it. the ride gives a small sustained mini airtime hill before shooting up into the stall. This thing feels like it lasts forever before sending riders back to earth, only to go back up into a strong outward banked hill. This is where the ride kicks things into a whole new gear.
The ride shoots up a double-up airtime hill while drops directly into a heartline roll over the arcade building. Immediately after the roll there’s an intense off-axis fakey airtime hill that turns into a high positive-G turnaround that keeps on banking into another heartline roll. There are no breaks here. The ride ends with a series of what is easily the most intense sequence of ejector airtime hills ever built. Each one kicks riders upwards with more and more force with hills designed to throw out up and hard. The final hill leads into the feeling of ejector airtime and strong braking at the same time which throws riders forwards due to the very short brake run.
ArieForce One is a must-ride attraction at Fun Spot Atlanta, the combination of relentless back-to-back elements makes for a ride that is incredible in every single row. After 15 rides, I could not point to a “best” row, they each provide a different ride and all of them are incredible. Be sure to plan a trip to Fun Spot America Atlanta now!!
