Press Release from SeaWorld San Antonio:

SAN ANTONIO, TX., (December 5, 2023) – Aquatica, Texas’ best waterpark, will open Tikitapu Splash in 2024. This all-new multi-level water-play attraction is a combination of water elements and features that will include four exciting water slides, three giant bucket dumps, and refreshing splashes that come together to create the ultimate water playground. With over 15,000 square feet for guests to splash through, visitors can get soaked, cool off from the Texas heat, and romp through the interactive water wonderland. Ideal for the young and young at heart, Tikitapu Splash will provide plenty of fun and creative ways for guests to get soaked.

“At Aquatica San Antonio, we are excited to make a big splash with the all-new Tikitapu Splash,” said David Skelton, Vice President of Aquatica. “Our commitment to fun and innovation has resulted in a 15,000 square foot water playland extravaganza that will give the entire family even more ways to get wet and have fun.”

The all-new multi-level interactive outdoor playland will feature three giant buckets that will dump over 1325 gallons of water onto those below waiting to be refreshed! The play area will also feature four exciting waterslides and 104 new spray and play elements including multiple geysers, colorful water cannons, and gushing waterspouts for maximum water fun. Tikitapu Splash will be located adjacent to Whanau Waters, a series of shallow water pools perfect for the little ones, and have its own colorful theming and water elements to make for the biggest and splashiest play area Aquatica has to offer.

Keeping in line with Aquatica’s tropical oasis theme inspired by the Māori culture of New Zealand, Tikitapu Splash takes its name from Lake Tikitapu - also known as Blue Lake - one of four small lakes found in the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand’s North Island. The name Tikitapu finds its origins in Māori history, being a sacred necklace believed to have been lost in the lake by the daughter of a high-ranking chief.

In addition to the all-new Tikitapu Splash at Aquatica next year; SeaWorld is set to open Catapult Falls, the world’s first launched flume coaster in the spring of 2024. With a state-of-the-art elevator, a 53-degree drop, and speeds of 30 ft/sec, guests will be on the edge of their seats filled with excitement as they enjoy the journey. The first-of-its-kind ride will be the perfect combination of a flume ride and a coaster, giving guests the heart-pounding thrill of high speeds with the floating and coasting of a boat on a river. This highly anticipated attraction will be a groundbreaking launched flume coaster and another great way for guests to beat the Texas heat.
