Minneapolis, MN (August 19, 2024) – Officials at Valleyfair Amusement Park today announced that tickets for the resurrected ValleyScare are now on sale at valleyscare.com. ValleyScare is Minnesota’s largest Halloween event and will include an expanded lineup of thrills and chills to welcome in the bewitching season this fall.

ValleyScare, now a separately ticketed event, will be more intense than ever, offering six immersive haunted mazes including the all-new, state-of-the-scare Cryptid Land, three frightening scare zones, and tons of eerie entertainment. All attractions include terrifying enhancements to storylines, animatronics, special effects, and environmental elements. In addition, guests can experience some of their favorite thrill rides while the moon is high. See descriptions of mazes, scare zones, and attractions below.

Raul Rehnborg, vice president and general manager for Valleyfair, said guests have been clamoring for the return of this fan-favorite event. “We heard you loud and clear, and I am excited to reconvene our terrifying team of monsters who will bring the scares back to ValleyScare for our Halloween season,” Rehnborg enthused.

Haunted Mazes

• Cryptid Land: Roadside Randy’s latest cryptid is sure to attract tourists: the Minnesota Ice Man. This creature was discovered when the Minnesota River recently flooded. Like all his cryptids, you don’t need to worry because they are kept under lock and key. Wait, where are the locks? Why are the bars bent? What’s that in the corner?

• Blood on the Boundary Waters: Lost in the moonless Boundary Waters, you see a darkened town lit by eerie lanterns rising from the misty marsh. Screams pierce the darkness as you come upon a crazed survivalist—a violent fungus has infected the people turning them into swampish monstrosities seeking humans to harvest fresh body parts. You try to run but are trapped on a bridge to nowhere—and underneath in the water lurks your demise.

• Berserkers: Valkyries’ Vengeance: Terrifying monsters descend upon the Viking village turning it into a battlefield. The Valkyries arrive to choose slain Vikings who are worthy of a place in Valhalla but are faced with a dark discovery. Intent on taking down the Valkyries, the monsters have raised an army of undead Vikings to fight alongside them. Twisting through the long house, forest, swamp, and caves, can you escape the chaos and stay alive?

• Undertakers: Journey through death’s ominous door as you enter the solemn mortuary. Drift through to the chapel where lost and trapped souls mourn their former lives. From the mausoleum to the morgue, the cold hand of death follows and points to the true secret lair of the Undertaker where his depraved secrets lie in wait. 

• Mr. Cleaver’s Bloodshed: There was always something “off” about Mr. Cleaver. But who can resist a special behind-the-scenes tour of his meat packing plant when it is offered! Upon entering, you discover there are more than just animals being slaughtered by him and his murderous butchers. And this isn’t just a tour…you are NEXT on the chopping block!

• The Chateau: Seven Deadly Scares: Plunge into a chilling nightmare where the shadows of human flaws come to life: vanity bleeds, greed kills, and gluttony feasts on human flesh. You will face seven rooms of unimaginable dread, each one more terrifying than the last. Your every step will be fraught with danger, and your resolve will be tested to its limits. The horrors that await are not for the faint of heart. Enter at your own risk and prepare to confront the very essence of your deepest fears.

Scare Zones

• CarnEVIL: Midway of Mayhem: Navigate through fog into a nightmarish park where sinister clowns lurk, blurring reality and trapping you in a maze of terror—will you escape or go mad?

• Toxicity: A catastrophic explosion at the chemical plant has unleashed grotesque mutations and mutilations, turning the city into a toxic nightmare—can you survive?

• Signal Zero: Civil war has left the world a desolate wasteland, with vicious gangs hunting survivors; when the ominous Signal Zero echoes, flee or risk enslavement.

Entertainment

• Hide and Seek: Step into the shadows of our darkest fears. As the sun sets and the fog rises, be guided by an enigmatic troupe of steampunk goddesses as their haunting melodies and otherworldly dancing take center stage. Each song unravels a tale of a forgotten phobia, weaving a spell that draws you deeper into the heart of darkness. If you hide, they WILL seek out your blackest fears.

• Hell on Wheels: Rev up your engines and get ready for Hell on Heels, the fiercest set of pipes this side of Sturgis. But these outlaws come straight out of hell leaving a trail of rock and rebellion. Get ready to pump your fists and mosh to get your blood boiling with this untamed, wild musical inferno.

• CarnEVIL’s Amazement: Laughter takes a wicked twist with our sharp-tongued clown who isn't afraid to push the limits with his biting wit and dark, hilarious banter.

• Seeded and Scorned: Patch, our giant pumpkin mascot, has a naughty side and a love for roasting more than just seeds. Brace yourself for a harvest of hilarious insults as you walk by. Some of the reads are downright savage!

• Raveyard: Dance amongst the spirits to deathly EDM tracks by DJ Lorth (Minneapolis Ground Zero's resident DJ) that will raise the dead and keep you moving until the witching hour.

• Black Widow: Weaving glowing celestial orbs together, our Black Widow will leave you spellbound with this dazzling show.

For the safety of everyone, Valleyfair will have additional security measures during ValleyScare.

• Guests should be aware of our existing chaperone policy including specific date changes when the chaperone to guest ratio is modified.  

• Bag Policy:  Clear plastic bags smaller than 12” x 12” x 6” as well as non-clear wristlets or clutches no larger than 5”x 8”x 2” are allowed during ValleyScare. All bags are subject to search prior to entry.

For those looking for a more family-friendly Halloween experience, Tricks and Treats is also returning with daytime Halloween fun this fall, running Saturdays and Sundays, September 28 through October 27. Everyone in the family is sure to have a boo-last with spooky, kooky Halloween activities for kids and adults and a to-die-for lineup of entertainment. Come dressed in your finest Halloween attire for the Halloween costume contest. ValleyScare runs select Fridays and Saturdays, September 21 through October 26, 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. ValleyScare is a stand-alone event requiring a separate ticket with tickets starting at $39.99. Tricks and Treats runs Saturdays and Sundays, September 28 through October 27 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (6:00 p.m. on Sundays). Guests may attend both Tricks and Treats and ValleyScare on Saturdays, however each is a separately ticketed event, and guests will be required to leave and re-enter between events. 2024 and 2025 Gold Passholders receive unlimited ValleyScare and Tricks and Treats visits; season passes can be purchased at valleyfair.com.
