New High-Energy Events Debut at Kennywood, Idlewild and SoakZone

Press Release from Kennywood and Idlewild & SoakZone:

WEST MIFFLIN [JULY 5, 2022] – The July Fourth holiday weekend was just the beginning of a busy July at both Kennywood and Idlewild & SoakZone.

Both parks launch new events on Tuesday, July 5 that will last the rest of the month. At Kennywood, Summer’s On! brings the biggest, boldest and brightest nighttime spectacular in park history to cap each night under a fully immersive display of dazzling lights. A series of shows start at 6 p.m. each evening featuring dancers, trivia, interactive photo opportunities, and exciting contests, concluding with a day-ending light show celebration at 9:45 p.m.

Idlewild says “Hello!” to an all-new event inspired by everyone’s favorite friends from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: Neighbor Days. Celebrating Daniel Tiger, O the Owl and the other characters and music from the Neighborhood, guests can enjoy local entertainment, luaus, races, games, and more, with unique fun to be found every day.

“This is our most robust lineup of special events ever at all three Pittsburgh parks and the perfect time to make a local summer vacation visit to the parks,” said Regional Marketing Director Gene Petriello. “These special events are unique reasons to visit beyond the signature rides and tasty treats that season passholders and guests of Kennywood, Idlewild and Sandcastle love. Neighbor Days will add extra fun for all to Idlewild, The Best Kids’ Park in the World, while Summer’s On! offers electrifying live performances all evening long, plus specialty food and drink items, and extra family fun for guests at Kennywood.”

In addition to the nightly series of shows at Summer’s On!, Kennywood serves up new limited-time food items including walking banana pudding, fresh beignets, loaded tots, and a variety of adult slushies. Friday and Saturday dates of Summer’s On! also add character meet and greets and more family activities to Pittsburgh’s Thrill and Entertainment Destination.

In addition to these month long events at Kennywood and Idlewild, Sandcastle Waterpark continues its popular Jammin’ July concert series every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all month, with local entertainment lineup in Pittsburgh's most unique concert venue on the banks of the Monongahela River.
