We Got a Construction Tour of Lost Island Theme Park!

It’s not often that you get a brand new full-sized, theme park being built from the ground up but that is in fact happening in Waterloo Iowa! Recently we got a chance to tour the in-progress Lost Island Theme Park to check it out and see how soon we’ll get to experience this new and looking to be extremely well themed world!

The entrance plaza is all about welcoming you to the 5 realms of Lost Island and introducing you to the park. You immediately are able to see the entire park as it is very flat and open (for now, trees are being planted) and your attention is immediately drawn to Alzanu’s Eye, the park’s ferris wheel. Note the lights as each realm features a different style to add to the sense of immersion. First, we go counter-clockwise around the park and start in the Tamariki (spirit) realm.

most of this area is geared towards young children and does manage to fit in a lot of rides and play areas that all are very well themed.

Lokolo, the first of the park's 3 roller coasters. This is a your standard wacky worn, but the entire land appears to have been themed around its signature lights which is cool.

Next, we make it to Udara, the air realm.

Easily the standout ride here is Nupoko, the Air Coaster. It's a traditional Vekoma SLC, but uniquely with a helix!

This SLC was relocated from South Africa's now closed Ratanga Junction

A Gerstlaurer Sky Fly is a welcome sight in any park!

This will be the entrance and queue for Nopuko

This S&S Tower came from Liseberg but will find a second life here

feel it's rare to enter an SLC from the lift hill side, so no going under the ride here

This will be the Whale Bone Grill, the park's more specialty grab and go restaurant

it will look great once completed!

The station of Awaati Battle, the park's splash battle ride built right on the lake

there truly is so much attention to detail being put into this park

this sculture is going to soon look as if it was made entirely from sand

This is the park's second restaurant as we enter the Yuta (Earth) realm.

of course have to show the aftermath of the park's recent fire of the station structure for the new flume ride. Sadly we will not see it opening with the rest of the park.

We then get to Matugani, the park's 3rd coaster, an Intamin Accelerator. also known as Kanonen at its original home in Liseberg

Lastly, we get to Mura the fire realm, here Volcanu, the park's Sally / ETF Rides shooter dark ride

Not Pictured: we were allowed inside the ride building of Volcanu, and it truly will be the park’s standout fully custom attraction. the ride vehicles feature 2 rows or 3 and appear to be ETF’s Xperience Mover model that allows for full rotation and tilt. The Ride features 3D projection scenes mixed with impressive themeing around it.
