Cedar Point Tricks and Treats Fall Fest - Trip Report

The roller coaster ride that has been 2020 has continued into the fall and many parks have been forced to get creative and find new and exciting ways to bring some fall joy to guests! Cedar Point was no exception this, and they chose to postpone their Halloweekends event including both Haunt and The Great Pumpkin Fest in favor of a brand new autumn event, Tricks and Treats Fall Fest. Recently, we had the opportunity to visit the park and see all that the park has done to make this feel like a truly new, unique, and of course safe event!

A sticker has been placed over the old Halloweekends logo on the Pumpkin that greets guests as they enter the park.

Entry into the park is the same at it has been for the 2020 Season with temperature checks and mandatory facial coverings for all guests. Once we were in, we immediately saw that Tricks and Treats is not the same as the traditional Halloweekends experience. Many of the now expected mainstays of fall were noticeably absent, almost as if to emphasize that this was not the traditional fall event that we were all used to. The halloween overlays of certain attractions are nowhere to be found, so sorry to those fans of Ocean Potion, the Friendly Monster, and Mystic Cedar Creek Mine Ride you’ll have to wait till next year to see those return hopefully!

Before we get into all the new things for the fall event, lets quickly take a look at something else that opened up right at the end of the summer season that many may not have had a chance to see or experience, the Mac Shack is now open! Replacing Pinks, the Mac Shack lets guests make their own bowls of mac and cheese choosing from a couple dozen ingredients and proteins to mix with a bowl of fresh macaroni mixed with cheese in the form of a giant block that you get to see made in front of your eyes! Oh, and for all you passholders, it’s on the all season dining plan!

Yeah this place is great and absolutely recommend it on your next trip!

On to Tricks and Treats!

At its core, the new Tricks and Treats Fall Fest is a seasonal food and drink festival like the Frontier Festival or Brews & BBQ that we have seen in the past. This time however, the BBQ has been replaced with fall favorites like roasted corn, ciders, and many other fall treats for all! Rather than having dedicated booths, the seasonal food items have simply been added to the menus of existing food locations around the park and may be purchased either a la carte or with a meal pass that allows you to sample 6 of the food offerings!

In addition to some new food offerings we see a lot of new activity happening on the main and gatekeeper midways! Lots of new midway games tents have been set up all across kiddie kingdom!

All these new games really have given life to the main park midway and I would love to see them return next year! They are currently using the gypsy fortune teller tents, but that’s easy to fix (also how many years has it been since there was not a year featuring gypsy fortune tellers at Cedar Point?!).

Mystery House on Boo Hill, the trick-or-treat event for children as moved outdoors this year and given a new theme! Kids will now travel from scene to scene outdoors starting at the entrance to Kiddie Kingdom, and ending up around Planet Snoopy. This is another activity that I would love to see remain outdoors since it brings so much theming outdoors and dresses up the main and Gatekeeper midways well!

In addition to the new events above, the park has added lots of new live entertainment options around the park and in Frontiertown there is a new stage set up where you can dance with gouls and even purchase pumpkins hand-painted by park artisans! Rather than going into every single new addition please enjoy some photos of the new shows, events, and of course all the world class rides and attractions!

While there may not be any haunted houses or scare zones that are so very tied to Cedar Point’s Halloween events, this one is still definitely worth a visit! The park is open weekends from now till November 1st! We hope that you can stop by and enjoy some delicious food while enjoying a fall-themed show or taking in the crip air coming off the lake!
